Bleeding from Eye

Injury to the eye can cause bleeding in the front (or foremost chamber) of the eye between the cornea and the iris. This (inside the eye) Bleeding contained in the front council of the eye is also known as "Hyphema".
Symptoms of hyphema may include:

  • Light sensitivity
  • Blurry or blocked vision
  • Pain in the eye
  • Blood that is visible in front of the eye 

 

The main cause of hyphema is trauma to the eye, due to an accident or hard fall
Other causes include:

  • Eye cancer
  • Haemophilia
  • Sickle cell anemia
  • Abnormal blood vessels on the iris
  • Infections of the eye
  • Eye surgery 

A medical eye specialist will analyze the eye and recommend treatment depending on what's causing the bleeding and how severe it is. The person may need to use eye drops or wear a fix. Once in a while, surgery is needed to relieve pressure in the eye.
